Blue Jaali Variation Mug V2

£8.53

This artwork is very close to my heart:

Mughal octagram and octagon variations in reds and oranges, purples and blues painted in watercolours.

Based on the red stone jaalis, carved and inlayed walls of beautiful Mughal architecture. These patterns can be seen in Humayun’s Tomb in Dehli, Agra Fort in Agra, Salim Chisti’s Tomb in Fatehpur Sikri and Akbar’s Tomb in Sikandra. Eternally grateful to the artisans, craftsmen, architects, geometers and designers of the 16th and 17th century Mughal Empire. To all those who came before and after in all the corners of the Islamic lands for hundreds of years.
